12/14/2023 - The Japanese retailer collaborates with FIT's Design and Tech Lab for an exclusive collection available at the Fifth Avenue global flagship store.

Uniqlo has announced its collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology and its Design and Tech Lab (DTech Lab) for a limited-edition upcycling collection called Re.Live. The 11-piece collection of knitwear, outwear, shirts, jumpsuits and accessories was developed using completely non-sellable and non-wearable Uniqlo products.
FIT PETE Prize Winners 2023
12/04/2023 - The winners of FIT’s second annual PETE Prize for Entrepreneurs were announced during Entrepreneurship Month on Thursday, November 30, at a breakfast at Spring Place. The 2023 winning team of Habin Lee, Technical Design ’23, and Mary Addison Davis, Fashion Design ’23, whose company is RANEA: Courage to Move, have created a business manufacturing and selling athletic wear that facilitates proper muscle movements and reduces stress for chronic injuries for both men and women.

An extension of FIT’s Innovation Center, the DTech Lab is FIT’s on-campus innovation lab developed with the promise of revolutionizing both the creative and retail industries, DTech unites design thinking with emerging technologies.

It’s where teams of FIT students —together with expert faculty—engage in research and problem-solving projects for companies facing a wide range of challenges. Industry partners enjoy the benefits of FIT’s unconventional minds who develop bold, original solutions by exploring trends in media, technology, and production.

Michael Ferraro
Michael Ferraro is the executive director of the FIT DTech Lab. Ferraro provides the strategic vision and creative direction for all Lab projects. His background in emerging technology and media production brings a distinct industry focus to the Lab’s experiential learning environment. Under his direction, Lab projects de-risk innovation for industry partners and empower entrepreneurs while helping build the workforce of the future.

JUDITH BOWENS
Judith Bowens is the managing director of the FIT DTech Lab, focused on operating systems and strategies, business initiatives, and industry partner relationship development. Her experience in the luxury fashion, retail, and start-up spaces cultivating teams and scaling companies supports the DTech Lab's interdisciplinary project approach, reimagining how the combination of people and emerging technologies shape business innovations in the fashion value chain.

Caroline Kim
Caroline Kim is the administrator of the FIT DTech Lab, managing daily communications, logistics, and operations and ensuring the integrity of Lab projects according to mission and purpose, with a value on featuring the FIT community. Her experience in the fashion and beauty industries spans merchandising, buying, event implementation, and product launches for numerous luxury brands in the private and public sectors as she brings a storytelling lens to Lab initiatives.

JOANNE ARBUCKLE
Joanne Arbuckle is the deputy to the president for Industry Partnerships and Collaborative Programs at FIT. As the liaison between the president, the college, and outside organizations, she develops and expands global partnerships for the college. She closely collaborates with the executive director of DTech to integrate the work of the Lab with the schools and other divisions of FIT.
